40 years of Commerzbank in Brussels

On September 19, 2017, Commerzbank in Brussels celebrated the 40th anniversary of its presence in Belgium.

The elegant Palais des Colonies in Tervuren provided the exclusive setting in which to commemorate this anniversary with over 130 invited guests, whilst taking a look at both the past and the future of Commerzbank in Belgium.

Michael Reuther, Member of the Board of Managing Directors of Commerzbank AG, focused in his speech on the strong economic relations which exist between Germany and Belgium and on the history of Commerzbank in Belgium. Exactly 40 years ago, Commerzbank was the first German bank to open a branch in Brussels. For the branch was able to consolidate its position as a leading provider of integrated banking services for large and international companies, and today it is a powerhouse in corporate banking in Belgium.

During the event Andreas Gerland, former Country CEO Belgium & Luxembourg, passed the baton on to his successor Martin Keller. In their speeches, Michael Reuther and Martin Keller made it clear that Commerzbank in Belgium “…is here to stay” and would also like to continue growing here – because further client growth is our target.
